Foreign Policy, in the context of subduing other nations, has been the greatest threat to the common people throughout history. It can fall under the banner of imperialism, as well as today's terms of helping or policing the world.

Historically powerful nations, both past and present, have all played a part in doing this. There are two reasons (that sometimes work together) why nations do this: 1) to protect their boundaries through war and/or divide and conquer methods, and 2) to gain or maintain advantage by taking the resources of the other nation.

The problem with the above is that the greed of leadership, government or otherwise, never have/had the best interests of common people in mind, so common people always suffer.
